Lost Wax Mishap of The Innocent Know Not What They Invite
This was the finished wax model of the cougar and deer. I had considered creating a cast base, but I liked the possibility of placements.
This is what I pulled out of the mold. It is the raw cast, complete with sprues, sprue cup, and flashing (and the random celtic plate I decided to cast). You can't even see the deer, can you? This is just a massive amount of flashing; because there were so many cracks in the plaster, the molten aluminum seeped into them, leaving the head severely misshapen. After lots of frustration, I cut them free, and my professor welded her face up.
This is the final result. Her face is still somewhat deformed, mostly on the other side. Not show quality, but I still enjoy the feeling of these two.
